President Joe Biden and his administration are preparing proposals for legislation that would reform the Supreme Court.
The anticipated measures include establishing term limits for justices, rather than having them serve until they resign or pass away, and an enforceable, binding code of ethics. Formerly, as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Biden had been opposed to substantive changes to the Supreme Court.
Media outlets reported that President Biden stated in a call, “I’m going to need your help on the Supreme Court, because I’m about to come out… with a major initiative on limiting the court … I’ve been working with constitutional scholars for the last three months, and I need some help.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and his advisors as they craft legislative proposals that seek to limit the Judicial Branch.
- For discernment for members of Congress as they evaluate legislative requests from President Biden and his administration.
- For wisdom for the justices of the Supreme Court as they consider cases for the fall term and respond to requests for stays and injunctions during their summer recess.
