He states, “It is in the best interest of my party and the country.“
President Joe Biden issued a statement on social media on Sunday announcing his withdrawal as a candidate in the 2024 presidential election. The president has been self-isolating in Delaware after canceling campaign events in Nevada due to a COVID-19 diagnosis.
President Biden stated, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my
term.“
He also said he would “will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail“ about his decision.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and his advisors as they conclude his campaign for reelection.
- For the president’s party as they prepare for the convention next month.
- For discernment for the leaders of the Democratic party as they seek their replacement candidate in this November’s presidential election.
