Issue 656 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

The 3rd Infantry Division is holding exercises to prepare for worldwide emergency deployment. Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Michael Hefti said relevant civilian and military personnel are training on a compressed timetable.

Pray for U.S. military commanders as they prepare their units and divisions for emergency deployment.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian military was established in May, joining the country’s army, navy, and air forces. The new force is being equipped through an estimated 250 defense startups and secret laboratories, some of which are creating killer robots to address manpower shortages.

Pray for Ukrainian and allied leaders as lethal AI systems are created to fill combat roles.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

Israel and Hamas are reportedly in ceasefire talks mediated by Egypt and Qatar and supported by the United States. The proposal would end the war in three stages as President Biden outlined six weeks ago.

Pray for the leaders of Israel and Hamas as well as the mediators and U.S. officials as they seek a path to end the war in Gaza.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration has announced the Licensure Portability Grant Program to create a multi-state social worker licensure compact. The compact allows “providers to practice across state lines without having to apply for a license in each state… better facilitating hiring and… easing pathways to utilizing telehealth.“

Pray for U.S. federal health officials as they seek ways to provide better care across state lines.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The New Hampshire state legislature did not pass a bill that would legalize recreational marijuana. It is the only New England state that continues criminal prohibition of the drug. The state senate had included the state-run dispensaries Governor Sununu had requested, which caused the state House to kill the measure.

The Nevada secretary of state will soon announce whether or not a Voter ID measure officially qualifies to be included on the state’s ballot in November. With only 102,000 signatures required, more than 179,000 signatures were submitted in support of the election integrity measure being on the ballot.

Pray for state leaders and officials as they determine how to address challenges that face their respective states.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“If you look over in First Chronicles chapter thirteen… David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, ‘If it seems good to you, and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of IsraelLet us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.‘ There you can see for sure, if you were wondering, Saul never inquired of God.
‘The whole assembly agreed to do this because it seemed right to all the people. So David and all Israel went… to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.‘
[David] said, ‘Let’s bring the ark up here so we can inquire of God.‘ But he made a mistake. He did not inquire of God about how to go about that… All this planning and one very important thing he didn’t ask was ‘Well, how should we go about this? What should we do?‘
…Great idea, the best of intentions here, honor God with the newest and the greatest and the best [cart]. Except that God said that the ark was to be carried by hand and only by the priests, and only by the poles… They were using the best that THEY had to offer… but they weren’t following His instructions.– Bill Luebkemann, Hope From the Word, July 2024
