USDA Approves D-SNAP for Oklahoma Disaster Areas

Those impacted by storms and tornados in May could be eligible for food assistance.

The Department of Agriculture announced that low-income residents of Oklahoma of Rogers and Mayes counties that were affected by the storms and tornado in May could be eligible for assistance from the USDA’s Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP).

“USDA is committed to ensuring that residents of Oklahoma impacted by the storms and tornadoes do not have to worry about where their next meal is coming from,” said Secretary Vilsack. “The waiver will be beneficial to Oklahomans as they recover from the recent disasters.”

The department stated, “Approximately 735 households that may not normally be eligible under regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rules may qualify for D-SNAP – if they meet certain criteria, including the disaster income limits and have qualifying disaster-related expenses.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Vilsack to be led by God as he heads the USDA.
  • For USDA officials as they provide disaster nutrition assistance to areas that have experienced emergencies due to severe storms.
