Nearly 56,000 Chinese migrants have been encountered at U.S. land borders in 2024.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced this week that a number of illegal Chinese migrants were recently deported by the agency on a large charter flight. This is the department’s first charter flight since 2018 and indicates the growing number of Chinese nationals participating in human smuggling operations across the Southwest border.
“We will continue to enforce our immigration laws and remove individuals without a legal basis to remain in the United States,” stated DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “People should not believe the lies of smugglers.”
Since the beginning of 2024, Customs and Border Patrol have encountered nearly 56,000 Chinese migrants attempting to cross both the Northern and Southwest U.S. borders. This growing trend is believed to be caused by China’s economic downturn after its strict pandemic lockdowns and the U.S. approving fewer visas for Chinese nationals.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Mayorkas to uphold the immigration laws of the United States with honesty and integrity.
- For DHS officials as they determine whom to deport of the significant amounts of illegal migrants entering the nation.
