Majority members maintain the audio is needed to cross-reference the transcripts.
The House Judiciary Committee filed a lawsuit to force Attorney General Merrick Garland to turn over the audio recording of special counsel Robert Hur’s interview with President Joe Biden regarding the mishandling of classified documents. The Department of Justice has already turned over a transcript of the interview to the House committee and members of the press, but President Biden claimed executive privilege over the audio recording.
The House Judiciary Committee is following up on the request after the presidential debate last week revealed President Biden’s diminished mental capabilities.
“We’re not trying to embarrass the president. We’re trying to get down to the facts,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said. “So that being said, we’re going to be as aggressive as we can, use every tool in our arsenal to make sure that the evidence that the House is entitled to is turned over.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Merrick Garland to conduct the business of the Justice Department with integrity.
- For members of the House Judiciary Committee as they seek to obtain the special counsel’s audio of the presidential interview.
