Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass is in Ukraine.
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, welcomed the acting under secretary to Kyiv on Friday “to meet with Government of Ukraine counterparts and other partners to reiterate our unwavering commitment to Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s illegal aggression.“
Previously the Under Secretary of State for Management, Bass became acting under secretary for Political Affairs after Victoria Nuland retired from the position in the spring of this year. Earlier in his career in the State Department, he served as the U.S. ambassador to the nation of Georgia, then Turkey, and later Afghanistan.
