Thursday, June 20

Today, the Senate Health Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, chaired by Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, is holding a hearing to examine the immediate and long-term challenges facing public school teachers.

The committee will hear testimony from education officials, administrators, and teachers regarding low pay, teacher shortages, and underfunded public schools.

The Senator Judiciary Committee, chaired by Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, is holding a Business meeting to consider legislation to reauthorize the COPS ON THE BEAT grant program. The committee will so consider the nominations for federal district judges for the Central District of California, the Southern District of New York, and the District of Maine. The committee will then hold a hearing to examine pending nominations.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the chairs and members of the committees as they hold hearings and investigations.
  • For Chair Durbin and judicial committee members to be discerning as they determine matters regarding law enforcement program funding and the judicial nominees.
  • For the president and his advisors as they determine who to appoint to the federal bench and executive departments.
