DOT Launches Dashboard to Enhance Travel Benefits for Military Families

“Support Our Troops“ initiative simplifies access to airline benefits for service members, expands consumer protections and accountability.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has introduced a new “Support Our Troops” dashboard to help U.S. military service members and their families easily access travel benefits from the ten largest U.S. airlines. The online dashboard (found at flightrights.gov/military) outlines the benefits offered by the airlines, including free carry-on and checked bags, and fee-free refunds and changes due to military orders.

“As someone who often flew on military orders as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, I know the unique pressures our service members and their families can face when traveling,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “Service members and their families make extraordinary commitments and sacrifices for this country, and they deserve support and recognition whenever they fly.”

Spirit Airlines, Allegiant Air, and Frontier Airlines increased their commitments, while Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and United Airlines maintain their offering of existing benefits.

The travel dashboard, developed with input from the Department of Defense, covers members of all military branches and military academies as well as the Public Health Service and NOAA Officer Corps.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • With gratitude for the U.S. service members who put themselves in harm’s way to defend the nation.
  • For the military spouses and children who deal with the absence of their loved ones who are deployed around the world.
  • For discernment for U.S. transportation officials as they provide and maintain the airline benefits dashboard.
