Saturday, June 1

Today, a delegation designated by President Joe Biden is attending the inauguration of His Excellency Nayib Bukele in San Salvador, El Salvador. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is heading the delegation, which includes U.S. diplomats and other administration officials.

President Biden and officials from the Unified Command met with Maryland Governor Wes Moore and state agency leaders this week for an operational update on the federal and state response to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore and the progress toward fully reopening the federal shipping channel.

The National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) has urged bridge owners across the nation to assess their structures’ vulnerability to a similar occurrence. A team of engineers from Johns Hopkins University has begun an “urgent assessment of the country’s bridges, particularly the larger ones near major ports of entry.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Mayorkas and members of the delegation as they represent the U.S.
  • For discernment for the president and his advisors as they support the restoration of the Baltimore shipping channel.
  • For the chair and members of the NTSB as they encourage the national evaluation of bridge infrastructure.
  • For Governor Moore and state officials as they oversee and engage in the recovery efforts.
