The civil penalty was levied over a “whites only” job posting.
This week, the Departments of Justice and Labor fined a Virginia-based tech company that is a federal contractor for an employment opportunity posted last year that requested applications from U.S.-born, white citizens in the Dallas area. The company maintained that it had not approved the post and that a subsidiary employee in India had placed it.
Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke, head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, stated, “It is shameful that in the 21st century, we continue to see employers using ‘whites only’ and ‘only US born’ job postings to lock out otherwise eligible job candidates of color.”
The Justice Department said the posting violated the Immigration and Nationality Act, fining the company $7,500 and ordering them to pay $31,000 to those people who complained about the posting.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Assistant AG Clarke to be left by God as she oversees the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.
- For Acting Secretary Su to be discerning as she heads the Labor Department.
