Issue 648 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

A defense official said the withdrawal of the United States military from Niger is “already underway,” with a deadline of September 15. The departure time was negotiated after the military junta demanded, in March, that the American military leave the country. Roughly 1,000 U.S. military personnel have operated out of an airbase near Agadez for over a decade.

Pray for General Michael Langley as he commands the U.S. Africa Command and oversees the withdrawal of American personnel and equipment from Niger.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The European Union approved a plan to transfer the net profits from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine twice a year. Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Western nations have frozen approximately $300 billion in assets, which could amount to around $21.7 billion in interest. Roughly two-thirds of the frozen Russian assets are held in the EU.

Pray for the leaders and foreign ministers who are formulating plans and ways to support Ukraine against Russia.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin, Lindsey Graham, Richard Blumenthal, Jeanne Shaheen, John Fetterman, Jim Risch, Katie Britt, and John Thune released a joint statement condemning the decision of the International Criminal Court to pursue arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for “war crimes and inhumane acts.” The House of Representatives also recently passed a bill intended to ensure that President Biden’s administration fulfills the delivery of congressionally approved defense articles and services to Israel.

Pray for prudence for U.S. governing officials as they offer aid and provide support to Israel in the war against Hamas.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Food and Drug Administration has issued an alert to stop the import of plastic syringes made by Chinese manufacturers due to quality and performance issues. The agency recommends avoiding the use of these syringes and an immediate transition to the use of those not manufactured in China.

Pray for FDA officials as they review the quality and safety of medical devices imported from other nations.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

This week, the Federal Reserve Board released a report on the economic well-being of U.S. households in 2023. The report, which included analysis regarding income, employment, expenses, housing, banking, and credit, stated that 72 percent of adults claimed to be doing “okay” financially or living comfortably last year. In 2022, this percentage was 73 but, in 2021, it came in at 78.

Pray for the chairman and members of the Federal Reserve as they assess the U.S. economy and the impact of inflation.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The Rhode Island legislature approved a bipartisan bill to seal the records and protect the privacy of those who change their names in court. The legislation is intended to shield individuals who are transgender, divorced, or victims of domestic violence from having the information made public. Governor McKee is expected to sign the bill in June.

Governor Kristi Noem has said that Mexican drug cartels have a “presence” on the Indian Reservations in South Dakota. She stated, “The cartels are using our reservations to facilitate the spread of drugs throughout the Midwest.” After the governor said that tribal lands have become safe havens for cartels, all nine Native Tribes in the state banished her from their lands.

Pray for governors and legislatures as they seek to address the concerns and challenges faces the residents of their respective states.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“Here’s the hope of the Christian life, you’re from God, you’ve overcome [the world]. For He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. But it’s conflict. They are from the world and the world listens to them, but we are from God and whoever knows God listens to us. … The world listens to the world, but we speak from God. ‘Whoever knows God,‘ [1 John 4] verse 6, ‘listens to us. Whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.‘ … The Church is the house of God, He dwells in us, and we are bricks in this thing called the household of God – the world is against it, Satan is against it, the anti-Christ or anti-Christs that are coming are against the dwelling of God. … Being reviled for the namesake of Christ is going to happen. … What is this an opportunity for? This is an opportunity for you to bear witness. … to preach the Gospel, to bear witness to Christ.“ – Pastor Mike Fabarez, Focal Point, May 2024
