In the News…
The House of Representatives voted down the resolution introduced by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia to vacate the House Speaker’s position. She promoted the motion after Speaker Johnson worked on bipartisan legislation, both for foreign aid and for federal appropriations.
At the time, Congresswoman Greene said, “This is basically a warning and it’s time for us to go through the process, take our time and find a new speaker of the House that will stand with Republicans and our Republican majority instead of standing with the Democrats.“
Prior to the vote by the lower chamber, Representatives Greene and Thomas Massie of Kentucky met with Speaker Johnson about “ways to move forward for a Republican-controlled House of Representatives.“
Speaker Johnson responded, “I would really like to advance much more of our conservative policy on a daily basis here. But the reality is we are working with the smallest majority in U.S. history with a one-vote margin.”
