She lied under oath during her confirmation hearing.
Senator Mike Lee of Utah said that Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Kristen Clarke should resign from her position after it came to light that she denied, under oath, having ever been arrested for a violent crime. She actually was arrested in a domestic dispute with her now ex-husband, but the record was ultimately expunged.
“Kristen Clarke is in charge of enforcing civil rights laws,” Senator Lee stated. “She enforces those laws aggressively against anyone who sneezes near an abortion clinic. And not at all against those who vandalize churches. She lied under oath during her confirmation proceedings, and should resign.”
The assistant attorney general released a statement saying that she was a survivor of domestic violence. “When given the option to speak about such traumatic incidents in my life, I have chosen not to,” Assistant Attorney General Clarke stated. “I didn’t believe during my confirmation process and I don’t believe now that I was obligated to share a fully expunged matter from my past.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Assistant Attorney General Clarke to receive healing from the Lord and to seek His guidance regarding her role in the Justice Department.
- For wisdom for Senator Lee and his colleagues as they endeavor to ensure the transparency and integrity of federal officials.
