Deputy secretary says the initiative will provide healthy local food options and support local farmers and ranchers.
The Department of Agriculture announced 16 partnerships with local food financing programs this month, funding technical assistance for food retailers in underserved communities. The funding is distributed through the Healthy Food Financing Initiative, which works to provide access to healthy foods in areas where fresh alternatives can be scarce and expensive.
“No matter where you live across America, you should be able to get affordable, fresh, and healthy food,” said Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small. “USDA is proud to partner with the Reinvestment Fund so even more people can find good food options anywhere they live, all while supporting local farmers and ranchers.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Deputy Torres Small as she fulfills her role in the USDA and collaborates with partners in the healthy food initiative.
- For wisdom for Secretary Vilsack as he oversees the many departments within the USDA.
