Lou Correa
U.S. Representative for California
Jose Luis Correa was born in January 1958 in East Los Angeles, California. He earned an undergraduate degree from California State University, Fullerton, and received his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Correa worked in investment banking and real estate, as well as being a college instructor, before pursuing public office.
He was elected to the California State Assembly in 1998, serving to the term limit of three terms. He served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, then won election to the State Senate in 2006. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016.
Correa is married to Esther, and they have four children. He is Catholic.

Representative Lou Correa of California, ranking member of the House Border Security and Enforcement Subcommittee, introduced the Emerging Innovative Border Technologies Act along with his colleague Representative Morgan Lutrell of Texas.
The legislation would direct the Department of Homeland Security to develop and submit a plan to Congress that leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning, and nanotechnology. The purpose of this is to “enhance, or address capability gaps in, border security operations.”
“Border security means keeping drug and human traffickers away from our communities — and new, bleeding-edge technology that is already available for commercial use would give our hard-working officers the tools they need to keep us safe,” said Congressman Correa. “Through this bipartisan effort, Congress will better understand how our officers can use new technology to stop smugglers, as well as identify and respond when migrants are crossing in remote and deadly conditions, and hopefully deliver them the resources they so desperately need.”
