Speaker Johnson anticipates Senate Majority Leader Schumer will quickly dismiss it.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson of Louisiana has delayed sending the chamber’s impeachment measure against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas to the Senate, as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is expected to dismiss the motion.
A spokesperson for the House speaker stated, “To ensure the Senate has adequate time to perform its constitutional duty, the House will transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate next week.” The motion was originally supposed to be sent to the upper chamber on Wednesday.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said that he is ready to take action as soon as he receives the articles of impeachment. “We’re ready to go whenever they are. We are sticking with our plan. We’re going to move this as expeditiously as possible,” Senator Schumer said.
Other senators and senate aids said that they also expect Senator Schumer to craft a quick dismissal of the impeachment.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Senator Schumer to receive guidance from the Lord as he heads the Senate Majority.
- For wisdom for Speaker Johnson as he oversees business in the lower chamber of Congress.
