Threats to schools’ digital infrastructure have risen nationwide.
The U.S. Department of Education, alongside the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), has introduced the Government Coordinating Council (GCC) for the Education Facilities Subsector. This partnership is intended to strengthen cybersecurity security measures in K-12 schools.
“The GCC embodies our commitment to ensuring the cybersecurity of our nation’s schools,” Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten stated. “This initiative represents a monumental step forward in formalizing the partnership between federal, state, and local educational leaders in protecting our K-12 critical infrastructure.”
The GCC is a response to the rise in ransomware attacks and data breaches targeting K-12 districts nationwide. It will facilitate dialogue and share best practices to fortify the digital infrastructure of primary and secondary schools and support resilience against cyber threats.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Deputy Secretary Marten to seek God’s direction as she supports the efforts of the new council to enhance school cyber security.
- For members of the Government Coordinating Council to be discerning in their recommendations regarding digital infrastructure.
