He shared the concerns of the administration over the planned operation in Rafah.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin held a phone call with Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant on Wednesday, expressing his “outrage” after seven World Central Kitchen workers were struck and killed in an Israeli bomb strike. World Central Kitchen is a humanitarian organization that has worked closely with both Israel and Gaza since October 7, providing millions of meals to citizens enduring the ongoing violence.
“Secretary Austin urged Minister Gallant to conduct a swift and transparent investigation, to share their conclusions publicly, and to hold those responsible to account,” Pentagon Press Secretary Major General Pat Ryder said. “Secretary Austin stated that this tragedy reinforced the expressed concern over a potential Israeli military operation in Rafah, specifically focusing on the need to ensure the evacuation of Palestinian civilians and the flow of humanitarian aid.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For prudence for Secretary Austin as he engages with foreign defense ministers and other heads of state.
- For the peace of Jerusalem and wisdom to U.S. officials as they determine policies regarding Israel.
