The funding is intended to support more than 27,000 producers.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded $40.5 million this month to the 60 projects selected for the 2024 Organic Market Development Grant. These projects will distribute the large equipment necessary to help food producers meet the country’s increasing demand for organic foods. The department estimates that produce washing and sorting lines, cold-press oil presses, and advanced grain sorters will enable over 27,000 producers to send their organic food products to more than 31 million consumers.
“Farmers who choose to grow Organic often access new, more and better markets,” said Agriculture Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small. “At USDA, we are committed to making it easier for farmers who make that choice through programs like the Organic Market Development Grant Program, which supports farmers and increases access to fresh, healthy foods.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Deputy Secretary Torres Small as she facilitates the funding to support organic food production.
- For Secretary Vilsack to receive God’s guidance as he heads the USDA.
