Legislative negotiators came to an agreement over the weekend.
The House of Representatives is facing another deadline on government funding, as a previous resolution expires this Friday. Legislators negotiated an agreement over the weekend regarding the budget for low-income housing programs.
“We stabilized and protected housing assistance for nearly 5 million low-income individuals and families,” said Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee. “We didn’t get everything that we wanted, but we got most of it.”
Members of the majority party on the committee said the newly enacted package of bills “maintains housing assistance for vulnerable Americans,” while achieving the first overall spending reductions in “wasteful” programs in nearly a decade.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For members of the House as they finalize the appropriations for fiscal year 2024.
- For senators and representatives to be discerning about the federal budget and government spending in light of the national debt.
