The shipping companies are based in Hong Kong and Marshall Islands.
The U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against two shipping companies involved with an Iranian-backed Houthi financial facilitator. The owners, based in Hong Kong and the Marshall Islands, facilitated Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) and Houthi commodity shipments.
“The IRGC-QF and the Houthis continue to rely on the illicit sale of commodities to finance their attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden,” said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson. “The United States remains resolved to hold accountable those who enable these destabilizing activities.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Under Secretary Nelson to receive God’s wisdom as he heads the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
- For Secretary Yellen and Treasury Department officials as they evaluate the use of sanctions and update authorizations.
