Today, President Joe Biden is convening a meeting at the White House with House Speaker Mike Johnson, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The president will advocate for the emergency aid package his administration seeks for Israel and Ukraine and discuss the need to pass appropriations to avoid a government shutdown in March.
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said, “This is one of those instances where one person can bend the course of history. Speaker Johnson, if he put this bill on the floor, would produce a strong, bipartisan majority vote in favor of the aid to Ukraine.”
Speaker Johnson said that his party “will continue to work in good faith and hope to reach an outcome as soon as possible, even as we continue to insist that our own border security must be addressed immediately.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and congressional leaders to be led by the Lord as they discuss foreign aid and government funding.
- For Speaker Johnson and the other top legislators to be discerning regarding the federal budget.
- For God to accomplish His purposes in the United States and throughout the world.
