Chinese government funding hacking groups that target critical infrastructure.
A joint cybersecurity advisory has been published by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the National Security Agency (NSA), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), warning governmental agencies of a vast number of hacking groups sponsored by the government of China.
Leaders of the agencies say that China has been quietly gathering a “cyber hacking army” for the past few years, intending to target the computer systems of American utilities.
FBI Director Christopher Wray stated, “China’s hackers are positioning on American infrastructure in preparation to wreak havoc and cause real-world harm to American citizens and communities, if or when China decides the time has come to strike.”
