Live for the Savior

But Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.           Hebrews 3:6

For the Jewish people, no one is more respected than Moses. He led Israel out of bondage in Egypt helping them come together as a nation. He brought God’s Law to the people. Moses was faithful when Israel rejected God’s words, obedient in executing the tasks set before him, and he stayed until the Lord relieved him of his duties.

Think now about how Joshua and Caleb were sent with ten others to explore and report on the Promised Land. They were the only ones who saw the beauty and abundance of the land and believed God would make the way for them. Because the majority ruled, their recommendations were rejected, setting about 40 years of wilderness wandering for the people. However, God honored their faith, and they were the only ones over the age of 20 who would enter the land. They may have felt discouraged during those 40 years, but they did not lose hope. They remained confident of God’s continued care and guidance.

Moses was faithful as God’s servant over the rebellious people of Israel. Know that Christ is faithful as God’s Son and He is greater than Moses. Believers are under His care, and He will never fail you. There is no need to be burdened by regrets of the past nor concerned over the trials of the present when you have the blessed presence of the Lord right now and hope of eternity in the future. As commentator Warren Wiersbe says, “It is this ‘heavenly calling’ that motivates the believers to keep on living for the Savior even when the going is tough.”

Let the joy of the Lord and the hope and confidence you have in Christ show in your demeanor and your testimony. Pray for those believers who are leaders in government to display that same hope.

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. 21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he made to us—eternal life.
