Supreme Court Allows West Point to Consider Race in Admissions

Justices say the request to block the use of affirmative action was “underdeveloped.“

The Supreme Court declined a request to block the use of affirmative action in the admissions process of the U.S. Military Academy West Point. The request was filed by Students for Fair Admissions,

The group claimed that the use of affirmative action discriminates against white applicants, thus violating the Constitution’s principle of equal protection. The justices of the Supreme Court did not comment on the legitimacy of the claim.

“The record before this court is underdeveloped, and this order should not be construed as expressing any view on the merits of the constitutional question,” the decision stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the justices of the Supreme Court to be discerning as they field requests for injunctions and stays in legal cases.
  • For wisdom for the justices as they deliberate the oral arguments they have heard and determine their rulings.
