State-level programs were created to address lead paint and asthma.
This month the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) named Wisconsin’s Healthy Housing Initiatives Portfolio (WHHIP) as the winner of the department’s 2023 Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Healthy Homes. This outreach project of the Wisconsin’s Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Health took multiple steps in the last year to address lead paint hazards and provide in-home education for parents of children with asthma.
“Wisconsin’s Healthy Homes Initiatives Portfolio improved the lives of children with asthma and those threatened by lead exposure in Wisconsin,” said Secretary Marcia Fudge. “Through collaboration, evidence-based policy, and strong commitment to sustainability, this project stood out in a large group of worthy nominations.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for Secretary Fudge as she oversees the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
- For HUD officials as they assess the progress and success of federal housing programs.
- For members of Congress as they consider the funding for housing projects and initiatives in the 2024 fiscal budget.
