Education Department provides debt forgiveness to those who borrowed $12k or less at least 10 years ago.
The Department of Education announced that it will be providing loan forgiveness for certain borrowers enrolled in their Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan for college loans.
Beginning in February, borrowers who took out $12,000 or less 10 years ago or more will be eligible to have their plans canceled immediately. To ensure as many people as possible hear about this opportunity, the department will be sending out multiple emails to broadcast their latest loan forgiveness action.
“Our ability to deliver this relief to borrowers months ahead of schedule is a testament to the Biden Administration’s commitment to delivering relief to as many borrowers as possible, as quickly as possible,” said Education Secretary Miguel Cardona.
