The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Representative Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, passed the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act this week.
The legislation proposes to require institutions that receive federal student aid to advise admitted and enrolled students of their rights if they are, or become, pregnant. Provisions include providing accommodations such as modified class schedules and excused absences for doctor visits. Universities would have to email students to inform them of these accommodations as well as the campus and community resources available to support their pregnancy.
The bill now awaits scheduling for a vote on the House floor.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- With gratitude to the Lord that pro-life legislation has made it out of committee and awaits a floor vote.
- For more members of Congress to recognize the value of human life and to increase efforts to protect its elimination.
- For the president and members of his administration to have their hearts touched by God to see the worth of human life in utero.
