Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The Department of Transportation is taking a close look at frequent flyer programs offered by major U.S. airlines. The department is reviewing whether their practices are deceptive or unfair, reviewing popular loyalty programs, including transparency practices when booking tickets, and the transferability of miles.
Pray for the secretary and DOT officials as they evaluate airline loyalty and frequent flyer programs.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin not to “show weakness” when it comes to U.S. readiness to retaliate against Iran and their Houthi proxies in Yemen. “Without Iran, there are no Houthis,” he said. “If you really want to protect American soldiers, make it clear to the Ayatollah that if you attack a soldier through a proxy, we’re coming after you.”
Pray for members of Congress and the large agenda they face as they return to Washington.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic is scheduled to hear testimony from former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci on January 8-9 behind closed doors. Chairman Brad Westrup of Ohio warned Dr. Fauci that “honesty is non-negotiable.” He said, “There’s a lot we need to know,” adding that there are a lot of “lessons learned and a lot of things to look into.”
Pray for members of the House committee as they receive testimony from Dr. Fauci.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A federal judge in Iowa issued a temporary restraining order blocking most of a state law banning some school library books from school libraries and prohibiting teachers from discussing LGBTQ+ issues. The judge said both matters could infringe on the rights of free speech.
Pray for judges and justices to seek wisdom when ruling over matters involving America’s children.
