The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has placed sanctions on a person and three entities that have facilitated financial assistance from Iran to the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, the Houthi rebels began attacking shipping vessels in the Red Sea and have sent drones and missiles in the direction of Israel.
The department stated that millions of dollars have been transferred at the direction of Sa’id al-Jamal, an affiliate of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force.
According to the department, “All property and interests in property of the designated persons described above that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons are blocked and must be reported to OFAC. In addition, any entities that are owned, directly or indirectly, individually or in the aggregate, 50 percent or more by one or more blocked persons are also blocked.“
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for Treasury Secretary Yellen and Under Secretary Nelson as they evaluate and designate entities for supporting terrorism.
- For General Kurilla to be prudent as he heads the U.S. Central Command.
- For wisdom for the president, defense secretary, and leaders in the Pentagon as the attacks by the Houthis increase.
