The discussions covered AI development, models, and preventing breaches, fraud, and discrimination.
The White House AI Council held its first meeting this week, sorting through classified information to begin exploring the domestic and international impact of AI. Top Cabinet members were present at the meeting, including seven department secretaries, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, and the White House’s Science Director Arati Prabhakar.
The group opened discussions with a classified intelligence briefing, then touched on the many issues surrounding AI; how to hire AI developers, how to safely create new AI models, and how to prevent AI from magnifying data breaches, instances of fraud, and discriminatory practices.
The council will continue to meet regularly per President Joe Biden’s AI executive order of October 30.
