Secretary of State Antony Blinken has traveled to Europe and the Middle East this week. He first attended the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Belgium. He then went to Macedonia, Israel, and the West Bank.
The secretary of state met with counterparts in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Macedonia regarding security, stability, and human rights.
In Israel and the West Bank, Secretary Blinken discussed Israel’s right to defend itself consistent with international humanitarian law and continued efforts to secure the release of hostages. He met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Thursday.
Today, Secretary Blinken is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the United Nations climate conference, COP28. In addition to engaging leaders about continued global action to address climate change, he will discuss regional issues including the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
