He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. – Daniel 2:21
The U.S. Army War College was established on this day in 1901 by Secretary of War Elihu Root and President Theodore Roosevelt with the mission to educate and develop military leaders. The military academy was founded at Carlisle Barracks, one of the nation’s oldest military installations. Today, the college provides graduate-level courses for Army colonels and lieutenant colonels. Notable alumni include President Dwight D. Eisenhower and current Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The U.S. military has evolved much throughout the nation’s history to address the unique challenges of each era. As you pray for military leaders and officials, ask that God would guide them in forging strategies that increase peace and stability around the world. And remember that the Lord of hosts is also your Prince of Peace.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For wisdom for Secretary Austin and leaders in the Pentagon as they provide military guidance to the president and Congress.
- For the safety of U.S. military troops deployed around the world and serving at home.
