Tentative labor agreements with the big three automakers are moving forward.
President Joe Biden met with United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain on Thursday to show support for the tentative deals reached by the union and three American auto companies.
The UAW ended its six-week strike against General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis last week when negotiations finally reached contract terms that all parties agreed with. The contract has yet to be ratified, but if it is approved it will grant all workers a 25 percent pay hike, improved retirement benefits, and a four-year rollout of improvements for working conditions.
President Biden met with President Fain in Belvidere, Illinois, where Stellantis has agreed to build a new truck factory and car battery plant. These facilities are expected to add 5,000 jobs to the area by 2028.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Biden and his economic advisors as they promote organized labor.
- For U.S. labor officials as they support agreements with labor unions.
