The official has been placed on administrative leave.
The House Homeland Security Committee has opened an investigation into an asylum adjudication officer in the Department of Homeland Security who has been placed on administrative leave. It was revealed that she was a former spokesperson for the Palestinian Liberation Organization and had recently posted messages on social media that support Hamas. She also included an antisemitic cartoon on her page.
A DHS spokesperson said, “USCIS [Citizenship and Immigration Services] strongly condemns antisemitism and the use of violent rhetoric in any form. USCIS employees are held to high ethical standards both on and off duty, including their presence on social media. Any violation of these standards is taken seriously by the agency.”
Members of the House Homeland Security Committee have asked, “How did this happen?“ and, “Don’t they do background checks at Homeland Security these days?” Representative Mark Green, chairman of the committee, has urged Secretary Mayorkas to get to the bottom of the situation.
“It should go without saying that former spokespeople for groups that have been designated as foreign terrorist organizations by the U.S. government shouldn’t be working in our Department of Homeland Security,” Congressman Green said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Chairman Green as he heads the House Homeland Security Committee.
- For Secretary Mayorkas to seek God’s guidance as he oversees the Department of Homeland Security.
- For Director Jaddou as she manages U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
