Secretary Blinken says, “We don’t want escalation.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated on Sunday that the United States is ready to respond if American personnel become targets in the Israel-Hamas war.
They said they expect the war to escalate but do not foresee U.S. personnel coming under fire.
Secretary Blinken said, “This is not what we want; not what we’re looking for. We don’t want escalation. We don’t want to see our forces or our personnel come under fire. But if that happens, we’re ready for it.”
Agreeing with Secretary Blinken, Defense Secretary Austin said, “What we’re seeing is a prospect of a significant escalation of attacks on our troops and our people throughout the region.” The U.S. has the right to self-defense and “we won’t hesitate to take the appropriate action,” he said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretaries Blinken and Austin to seek God’s direction as they head their respective departments.
- For the president and members of his administration to seek wise counsel as they make decisions regarding the war in Israel.
