Not expected to be directly involved in the Israel-Hamas war, but to deter other Middle Eastern nations.
The Pentagon announced that around 2,000 U.S. troops have been given the “prepare to deploy” order by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin this week. The Defense Department is making them ready in case they are needed to respond to the conflict between Israel and the terrorist Islamic group Hamas.
Having these troops ready “increases DoD’s ability to respond quickly to the evolving security environment in the Middle East,” said Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh. “No decisions have been made to deploy any forces at this time. The Secretary will continue to assess our force posture and remain in close contact with allies and partners.”
The Pentagon does not expect to involve U.S. troops directly in the immediate conflict. They will most likely be called to act if surrounding Middle Eastern countries, such as Iran and Lebanon, decide to mobilize their militaries in the conflict.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Austin as he prepares U.S. troops for potential deployment.
- For Pentagon officials as they respond to the attacks against Israel and support its defense.
- For the peace of Jerusalem and for the people and leaders of Israel as they defend their nation.
