Issue 617 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for our Military

White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said there are “no plans or intentions to put US troops on the ground to fight in this fight between Israel and Hamas.” However, on Monday, the U.S. military selected around 2,000 troops for potential Middle East deployment. The military said they are currently in Middle East sites or surrounding areas, or in Europe, and will not serve in combat roles.

Pray for the safety of American military forces wherever stationed.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that more than 1,000 containers of military equipment and munitions have been delivered to Russia by North Korea in support of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Pray for U.S. and international officials who are making diplomatic efforts behind the scenes to secure an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS

The recent takeover of Niger’s government by some of its military leaders has officially been declared a coup by the U.S. State Department. The department has also cut back on aid to that country, although aid for humanitarian purposes will continue.

Pray for U.S. diplomats and the president’s foreign policy advisors as the aspirations for democracy and stability of the people of Niger have been interrupted by the military takeover.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

According to a new report in the journal “Vaccine,” more than 80 percent of Americans eligible to receive COVID-19 booster shots have declined. The reasons given for turning them down included already having been infected, concerns about side effects, and not seeing the protection offered by the booster.

Pray for U.S. health officials to release accurate data and for discernment for Americans as they make health care decisions.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

In a speech before Israel’s Knesset, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Hamas is part of the axis of evil of Iran, Hezbollah, and other nations. This is a struggle between the children of light and the children of darkness, between humanity and the law of the jungle. They want to return the Middle East to the abyss of the barbaric fanaticism of the Middle Ages, whereas we want to take the Middle East forward to the heights of progress of the 21st century. … I tell our friends in the enlightened world: Our war is also your war. If we do not stand together in a united front, it will reach you as well.”

Pray for wisdom for the leaders of Israel, politically and militarily.

Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY

Credit card interest rates are at their highest levels in 38 years, an average of 20.2 percent, with some as high as 24.45 percent. The Federal Reserve continues to raise interest rates in an endeavor to mitigate years of inflation.

Pray for Americans dealing with high credit card debt and the potential to get out from under it with such high interest rates.

Pray for Goodness in America

A Pew Research survey has found that 86 percent of white evangelical Protestant Christians have a “favorable” view of Israel, and now many evangelical churches and other Christian organizations are seeking to unify in providing financial assistance and humanitarian aid to the people of Israel. “Let’s make sure there’s love, there’s need, there’s care, there’s food, there’s shelter, whatever is in need,” said one Texas pastor. “And let’s do what we can do right now. Let’s not walk away. It’s not time for the United States to walk away from Israel.”

Pray for every church, organization, and individual who desires to give essential aid to the people of Israel to find the right means of doing so.

Pray for Needs Across the States

North Carolina’s laws governing voting integrity provisions are facing legal challenges from partisan organizations who allege the laws make it difficult for state citizens to vote.

Governor Maura Healey said a Massachusetts “right-to-shelter” law has the state running out of room for migrants. She said the law requires the state to provide immediate housing to families who qualify, and shelters have long been full. The governor declared a state of emergency while seeking shelters in homeless facilities, hotels, motels, and college dormitories across the state.

Pray for state governors and legislators as they struggle with divisive issues.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“Jesus said, ‘Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads because your redemption draws near’ (Luke 21:28 NKJV). That’s what we need to be doing, looking for the soon return of Jesus Christ.  But we also need to pray. The Bible tells us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). We want to pray that they arrive at some kind of peace. We want to pray that this horrific terrorism stops and that they’re able to get their hostages back. And we want to pray that God places His hand of protection on the nation of Israel during this unprecedented war.“ – Pastor Greg Laurie, Harvest Christian Fellowship, California, October 2023
