He is also scheduled to visit Jordan.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to Israel Wednesday with plans to meet senior officials to offer condolences and address security concerns.
“In the days ahead, we will continue to stand with our Israeli partners,” he stated Wednesday morning. “As I head to Israel, I will be working to ensure they are equipped to defend themselves and making sure any hostile parties know they must not seek to take advantage of the situation.”
A State Department spokesperson said the secretary will condemn the Hamas attacks against Israel and affirm America’s solidarity with Israel. He will also “discuss measures to bolster Israel’s security and underscore the United States’ unwavering support for Israel’s right to defend itself.”
Secretary Blinken also has a visit to Jordan on his agenda. He is expected to be in the region until the end of the week. Since Saturday, he has had multiple phone conversations with his counterparts from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Blinken to seek God’s guidance as he meets with Israeli leaders.
- For the secretary of state to be discerning in his support and pledges for aid.
- For God’s purposes to be accomplished in Israel and the Middle East.
