Secretary announces creation of Climate Science Application Team.
Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has announced four updated climate policies for the Department of the Interior, working to incorporate up-to-date climate data into land management strategies. The four updates include incorporating regular and adaptive land evaluations, refocusing the role of climate in the department’s policies, creating a new Climate Science Application Team, and supporting local initiatives to manage climate effects.
Secretary Haaland said, “As our public lands face more intense wildfires, droughts, storms, and other extreme weather events, improving the Department’s climate-informed decision-making is critical to ensuring effective and efficient resource management, while also protecting communities and wildlife.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Interior Department officials as they implement climate information updates into land management strategies.
- For Secretary Haaland to seek God’s guidance as she heads the department.
- For the Lord’s purposes to be accomplished through the federal government’s stewardship of public lands.
