The Senate and House of Representatives have not succeeded thus far in the passage of appropriations bills. The Senate passed a continuing resolution earlier this week that was rejected in the House.
This evening at midnight is the deadline for funding the federal government, and agreements between to two chambers appear unlikely.
Three of twelve appropriations bills were approved in the House on Thursday to fund the Departments of State, Defense, and Homeland Security. Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated after the legislation passed, “At the end of the day, we’ll get it all done.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for House speaker and U.S. representatives as they determine how to prioritize government funding.
- For Majority Leader Schumer and members of the Senate as they consider the variances in the legislation from the lower chamber.
- For the president and his advisors as they promote the administration’s budget requests.
