Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. – Romans 12:15
Sara Jane Moore, former FBI informant, attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford outside the Saint Francis Hotel in San Francisco on September 22, 1975. This attempt occurred just 17 days after another woman, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, tried to assassinate President Ford in Sacramento. A bystander and Marine veteran, Oliver Sipple, was also in the crowd and noticed Moore’s actions as the president made his way outside the hotel. Sipple grabbed her arm just after the first shot struck the wall of the hotel, causing her second shot to also miss. President Ford sent a letter of gratitude to Sipple for his heroism. As you pray for wisdom for public officials today, reflect on the ways that God has saved your life, both eternally and on this earth. Then give Him honor and praise for His protection!
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For protection and healing for both veterans and active-duty U.S. military personnel.
- For Secretary Denis McDonough as he oversees the Department of Veterans Affairs.
