Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning. – Psalm 30:5
President George Washington’s farewell letter to the American public was published 227 years ago today. He had led the Continental Army and served two presidential terms, declining to run again for the Executive Office. In his letter, he provided political advice and guidance that became, for a time, nearly as important as the Constitution in shaping the vision of the United States. In these times of uncertainty and unrest, it is important to recall the unshakable nature of Almighty God. The same One, whom the Founding Fathers often referred to as “Providence,” is still Sovereign over all His creation. He neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4). As you pray for those in public office today, take time to affirm your belief in the Savior and Creator of all. Offer Him the praise and worship that only He is due!
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For the president and his advisors to seek the Lord’s direction in the decisions and plans they make.
- That the Lord would accomplish His purposes in the United States of America.
