You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosened my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. – Psalm 30:11
In the book of Psalms, David writes about his joys, his sorrows, his sin, going into battle, victories, and losses. He also gives praise, thanksgiving, and worship to the Lord. In some respects, these writings were like his journal to God. People often write in journals when life becomes overwhelming, both positively and negatively, or when they have no one to bare their soul to. David’s psalms reflect how he poured his heart out to God when he is sad, rejoicing, uncertain, and searching for answers or guidance. David received comfort from the Lord in remembering how He provided for him throughout his life. You have the same opportunity, to journal your prayers, praises, and worship to God. Next time your heart is heavy and you struggle to pray aloud, try writing your prayers to the Lord. He will bring comfort and gladness to your soul.
