But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, [and] self-control. – Galatians 5:22-23
Today is the 22nd anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, when members of al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airlines and crashed them into two of the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, The Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives on that day, and many more suffered the effects of carcinogenic debris in the following years. Following the attack, Congress passed the Patriot Act, which gave new surveillance powers to the government to prevent terrorism. The Department of Homeland Security was also established in response to the attack. As you remember the tragedy and loss today, ask the Lord to give governing officials at every level of government wisdom to preserve and value life. Then thank God for giving you life and hope through the Lord Jesus Christ.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the officials of the Department of Homeland Security.
- For the president and his national security advisors as they implement policies that impact the nation.
