The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. – Psalm 19:8
Today’s verse speaks of the Lord’s precepts or rules for living. The definition of precept is a command or principle intended especially as a general rule of action. While you may not like rules in general, they create order and help you to understand what is expected of you. God’s children are subject to His rules. When you follow His precepts, you have the assurance of His care. Your heart rejoices in following Jesus and walking in His example. He is the Good Shepherd who will steer His sheep in the right paths. As a believer, you can fully trust that what He has laid before you is truth and life. Pray today that those who do not know Him will seek His salvation, His precepts, and eternal life. Pray for this nation’s governing officials as they ponder and debate legislation. Pray for the president to seek Godly precepts and to follow Jesus’ example.
