Today, the U.S. Senate is convening an executive session after the chamber’s morning business to resume consideration of several nominees.
The Senate will consider Philip Jefferson for a four-year term as Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Gwynne Wilcox for a five-year term as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board, Lisa Cook and Adriana Kugler for fourteen-year terms as Members of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, and Anna Gomez for a five-year term as a Member of the Federal Communications Commission.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York is considering whether or not to take up the confirmation of individual senior military nominations. Senator Tuberville of Alabama continues to block en masse defense confirmations due to the Pentagon’s violations of the Hyde Amendment prohibiting public funds toward abortion procedures. Three of the eight Joint Chiefs of Staff are without confirmed replacements and over 300 other promotions await confirmation.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For members of the Senate as they consider the nominees for the Federal Reserve Board, the FCC, and NLRB.
- For wisdom for Senate Majority Leader Schumer as he determines whether or not to confirm military officials individually.
- For the president and Pentagon officials as they navigate U.S. defense with acting leaders in the Armed Forces.
