Seven tribes receive funding for broadband infrastructure.
The Department of Commerce awarded $3.5 million to seven Native American Tribes, allowing them to begin constructing the infrastructure necessary for high-speed internet. The funding was allocated through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, investing more than $1.79 billion into high-speed internet deployment for 198 Tribal entities.
“President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda is helping to close the digital divide on tribal lands,” said Secretary Gina Raimondo. “These grants will reduce barriers to Internet access for tribal communities across five states, connecting them to the education, good-paying jobs, and health care they need to succeed in our 21st century economy.”
