Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in Your commandments. – Psalm 119:66
Today marks 18 years since Hurricane Katrina made landfall near New Orleans, Louisiana. One of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history, the storm caused tremendous damage and flooding, including over 50 failures of the levees and flood walls around New Orleans and its surrounding suburbs. In total, the hurricane displaced more than 1 million people and caused over 1,800 deaths and $150 billion in damages. President Bush later declared September 16 as a national day of remembrance for all the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In times of natural disaster, depending on the scale of devastation, the Federal government will send emergency aid to assist with repair and relief needs. Pray for those who are in the midst of rebuilding from recent severe weather events and ask the Lord to show you how you can bring His restoration and comfort to others today.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to seek God’s wisdom as he heads the Department of Homeland Security.
- For Administrator Deanne Criswell as she heads the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
